| 表面の説明 | Draped bust of Bishop Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg facing right, wearing richly embroidered ecclesiastical vestments with elaborate acanthus scroll ornamentation and a clerical collar visible at the throat. The hair falls in long curling locks over the shoulders in the late Baroque fashion. The circumferential legend reads MARQUARDUS SEBASTIANUS, separated by the coin's inner border from a beaded outer rim. |

Marquard Sebastian Schenk von Stauffenberg held the Bishop's seat in Bamberg for less than four years, from 1683 until his death in 1693 — a tenure short enough that his thalers were produced in limited quantity across relatively few dies. The Bishopric of Bamberg was an ecclesiastical principality of the Holy Roman Empire with full minting rights, and these coins functioned as genuine territorial currency rather than ceremonial issue.
The Davenport reference places this among the standard large silver of the Upper Franconian ecclesiastical mints. Krug's Bamberg catalog remains the authoritative die study for this bishop's coinage.
