Obverse description Central ornate oval coat of arms divided horizontally, with the upper half bearing the arms of Salzburg and the lower half displaying the personal arms of Archbishop Markus Sittikus von Hohenems. The shield is surmounted by a cross and a cardinal's hat with pendant tassels. The circumferential Latin legend, beginning at approximately 2 o'clock, is divided at the base by ornamental devices. The overall design reflects the elaborate heraldic style characteristic of early seventeenth-century ecclesiastical coinage.
