| 表面の説明 | Right-facing veiled and draped bust of Empress Maria Theresia occupying the central field, her hair dressed in tight curls beneath a translucent veil, rendered in high relief in a restrained Baroque style. The mintmaster's initials S·C· appear below the truncation. The circular Latin legend reads M·THERESIA·D·G·R·IMP·HU·BO·REG·, distributed around the portrait within a finely beaded border. |

Burgau was a small Habsburg margraviate in Swabia that retained nominal minting rights largely as a matter of dynastic bookkeeping — Maria Theresia ruled it as part of the broader Austrian inheritance, and coinage struck in her name there served administrative rather than commercial purposes. The date range of 1765–1772 brackets the period immediately following the death of Francis I, after which Maria Theresia adopted widow's dress and had her portrait updated accordingly on coinage across her territories.
The Herinek references here span two distinct obverse types, reflecting that portrait change. Collectors frequently conflate the pre- and post-1765 widow portrait issues; the Burgau series is no exception.
