| 背面描述 | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Rupert, first Bishop of Salzburg and patron saint of the city, vested in episcopal robes with mitre and nimbus, holding a crozier in his right hand and an orb in his left; a small church model or candle appears at lower right. Below the saint, the quartered arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg — a lion passant in the first and fourth quarters, a horizontal bar in the second and third — are displayed on an ornate baroque shield flanked by laurel branches. The circumferential Latin legend SANCT RUDBER TVS EPS SALISB with the date 1648 is enclosed between a rope-twist inner border and a toothed outer rim. |

Paris von Lodron ruled Salzburg through the entirety of the Thirty Years' War, and his sustained output of thalers across three decades reflects both the archbishopric's considerable silver resources and his deliberate projection of Catholic authority during the conflict. Salzburg itself remained neutral and largely unscathed — a remarkable achievement given its geographic position — and that stability made continuous coinage possible where other German ecclesiastical mints fell silent or debased.
The thirty-year span of this type produced enough die variation to keep specialists busy; Zöttl alone catalogues over thirty discrete entries across the series.
