| Obverse description | The Virgin Mary, crowned and enthroned facing front, holding the Christ Child on her left knee; the Child raises his right hand in blessing and holds a flower in his left. The Archbishop Paris von Lodron kneels in full pontifical vestments at lower left, presenting a crozier, with the Salzburg arms — a quartered shield bearing a lion and the archiepiscopal cross — displayed below the central group, flanked by elaborate strapwork cartouche. The surrounding Latin legend reads PARIS D G ARCHI EPS SALI SE AP L SVB TVVM PRAESIDIUM CONF, invoking Marian protection, and is separated from the toothed border by a rope-twist inner circle. |
