Obverse description Central device depicts two teams of horses straining in opposite directions, pulling at a large sphere or ball in an allegorical representation of atmospheric pressure and vacuum. In the background, a unicorn is visible to one side and an eagle bearing a lightning bolt to the other, set within an open field. The scene alludes to the famous Magdeburg hemispheres experiment demonstrating the force of air pressure. The Latin legend is disposed around the periphery of the coin.
