Reverse description A wild man (Wilder Mann), the traditional heraldic supporter of the House of Brunswick, stands in full figure at the right of the field, unclothed and garlanded with foliage, holding a tall pine tree in his left hand while resting his right hand upon a large ornate baroque shield bearing the quartered arms of Brunswick-Lüneburg. The elaborately decorated coat of arms is surmounted by a ducal crown and flanked by scrollwork mantling. The circumferential Latin legend EX ADVERSO DECVS and the Roman date MDCCXXIX arc across the upper field, with the mintmaster's initials C. P. S. placed in the lower exergue. The composition is boldly executed in high relief, consistent with the finest German baroque taler coinage of the period.
