| Obverse description | Central device depicts the Imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings, each head surmounted by a small crown and the whole flanked by a larger imperial crown above. The eagle's breast is plain, and the talons grasp orb and sceptre. The surrounding circular legend reads FERDINANDVS II D G ROM IMP SEM AVG, separated by stops, running along the inner border of the coin. The style is typical of early seventeenth-century German hammered coinage, with bold relief and a slightly uneven flan. |
