Obverse description Draped bust of Archduke Leopold V facing right, depicted in armour with a ruff collar, occupying the central field. The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century German coinage. A circular rope border frames the effigy, with a beaded outer rim. The surrounding Latin legend reads LEOPOLDVS D G ARCH AVS ARG ET PASS EPVS, identifying Leopold as Archduke of Austria and Bishop of Strasbourg and Passau, interrupted by a small ornamental cross device.
