Additional information

Leopold II ruled Hungary for barely fourteen months before his sudden death in March 1792, making his Hungarian thalers among the shortest-reigned Habsburg issues of the eighteenth century. He had come to the throne at a volatile moment — Joseph II's centralizing reforms had provoked near-insurrection in Hungary, and Leopold's first act was essentially to abandon his brother's entire domestic program to secure the Hungarian coronation he needed.

The 1790–1791 date range reflects precisely that political urgency. Striking ceased once the coronation crisis stabilized.
