| Aanvullende informatie |
John William II — Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz — died in June 1716, but by 1711 his administration of Jülich-Berg was already effectively delegated; a stroke in 1708 had left him partially incapacitated, and the duchy's coinage during these final years was issued under the practical authority of his ministers. The Noss classification places this among the later thalers of his reign, a period when output from the Düsseldorf mint was declining sharply as the War of the Spanish Succession drained resources across the Rhine territories.
John William died without legitimate heirs, triggering the Jülich-Berg succession dispute that would simmer for over a century.
