The portrait is rendered in a bold, high-relief style typical of mid-seventeenth century German ecclesiastical coinage. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | Full-length figure of the Virgin Mary standing facing, nimbed and radiant, holding the Christ Child in her left arm and a scepter in her right hand, set against a plain field. The Virgin is depicted in flowing robes with an elaborate halo of rays, in the Immaculate Conception tradition common to Counter-Reformation German ecclesiastical coinage. The mint mark CS appears in the lower exergue. The encircling Latin legend CLYPEVS OMNIBUS IN TE SPERANTIBUS, meaning 'A shield to all who trust in Thee,' runs around the entire border. |
