| Obverse description | Central crowned ducal coat-of-arms of Saxony, enclosed within the circlet of the English Order of the Garter bearing the French motto in the surrounding legend, flanked by palm sprays. The four corners of the square klippe flan each bear a crowned subsidiary coat-of-arms representing Sachsen, Cleve, Berg, and Jülich respectively. The entire composition is contained within a reeded border, the heraldic devices rendered in fine relief characteristic of late 17th-century Saxon die-cutting. |
