Jägerndorf (now Krnov, Czech Republic) came under the rule of John George of Hohenzollern in 1607 after the Habsburgs granted him the duchy as a hereditary fief. His tenure ended abruptly following the Battle of White Mountain in 1620, when his support for the Protestant Bohemian estates against Ferdinand II cost him everything — the duchy was confiscated by imperial decree in 1621 and he died in exile four years later. These thalers were struck across that politically precarious window, making the full date range essentially coterminous with his dispossession.
