Obverse description Armored bust of Elector Johann Friedrich I facing right, sword held over the right shoulder. The encircling Latin legend bearing his electoral and ducal titles is interrupted at the top of the field by two small shields of arms placed on either side. The portrait reflects the characteristic late-German Renaissance hammered style, with bold relief and detailed rendering of the armor.
