| Obverse description | Three heraldic shields arranged in a trefoil configuration occupy the central field. The upper shield displays three passant lions (the arms of the Bishopric of Eichstätt), the lower-left shield bears an episcopal crozier (the personal arms of John Conrad von Gemmingen), and the lower-right shield displays horizontal barry stripes (the Gemmingen family arms). The date 1606 appears in the lower portion of the field between the two lower shields. The circular Latin legend, partially inverted at the base, reads IO Conrad 9 D G EPS EYSTET 1606, distributed around the rim with a beaded inner border. |
