Obverse description Two heraldic shields displayed side by side in the central field: the left shield bearing the arms of the Bishopric of Eichstätt (a crosier), and the right shield bearing the personal arms of Bishop John Conrad of Gemmingen (barry of several pieces). The shields are surmounted by an elaborate baroque cartouche with foliate ornament and a winged element at the top. The date 1606 appears in the lower field between the bases of the two shields. The surrounding legend reads IOHANNES CONRADVS D G EPISCOPVS EYSTETENS, interrupted by a decorative cross-pattée stop.
