Reverse description A full-length frontal figure of Saint Vitus, patron saint of Corvey, stands at centre within a beaded inner circle, depicted nimbed and robed in flowing clerical vestments. In his right hand he holds a palm frond, the symbol of his martyrdom, while his left hand raises a small cockerel, his traditional iconographic attribute. The circumferential Latin legend identifying the saint and his patronage of Corvey encircles the field along the outer border.
