The duke is depicted in three-quarter armour with a ruffled collar and chain. The surrounding Latin legend reads: DOMINE. NE. DA. INIMICIS. VER(B)(I). TV(I). LE(T)(I)(T)(I)(AM). — a scriptural invocation meaning 'Lord, give not to the enemies of Thy word cause for rejoicing.'
