| Beschrijving keerzijde | Full-length figure of Saint Jodocus (Josse) standing facing, clad in pilgrim's attire including a broad-brimmed hat with scallop shell badge, a long cloak, and boots, holding a tall pilgrim's staff in his right hand and a palm frond — the martyr's attribute — in his left. The saint is depicted in the field within a plain inner circle, the rendering characteristic of Frisian hammered silver of the sixteenth century. The surrounding border legend, separated by decorative stops, identifies the figure as the holy martyr Jodocus, patron saint of the Lordship of Jever, from whom this issue derives its popular designation as the Jodocustaler. |
