Obverse description Three-quarter length armored effigy of János Kemény, Prince of Transylvania, facing slightly right, depicted in elaborately engraved plate armor with pauldrons and gauntlets, holding a scepter or baton in his right hand. The figure wears a plumed helmet. The surrounding legend reads IOANNES: KE - D: G: PRI: TR., divided by the figure, all within a beaded border. The portrait is rendered in a robust baroque style typical of mid-seventeenth-century Transylvanian coinage.
