| Obverse description | Half-length armored bust of István Bocskai facing right, depicted in contemporary military dress with ornate plate armor, a ruff collar, and a mace held over his right shoulder. The prince bears a short beard and is portrayed in a vigorous, three-quarter pose characteristic of early seventeenth-century Transylvanian coinage. The figure occupies the full inner field, surrounded by a beaded inner border. The Latin legend encircles the effigy, reading STEPHANVS D G HVNGARIÆ TRANSYLVANIÆ QVÆ, identifying the ruler by name, title, and his claim to Hungary and Transylvania. |
