Zusätzliche Informationen

Oettingen-Wallerstein was a small Imperial County in Swabia that had only recently been elevated to its own line following the division of the Oettingen territories in 1634. By 1694, the county's right to strike thalers was largely a matter of prestige — Swabian counts of this tier produced coinage more to assert feudal standing within the Holy Roman Empire than to supply any meaningful circulation. Ignatius was Franz Karl Ignatius, who held the county during a period when such minor issues were already being squeezed out by larger territorial mints.
