Montfort-Peggau was a minor Styrian comital line that had effectively exhausted its political relevance by the early seventeenth century, and the 1620 thaler issued jointly under Hugh XIII and John VII reflects a brief co-rulership arrangement common among fragmented German dynasties scrambling to maintain nominal sovereignty.
