| Descrizione del dritto | Armored bust of Heinrich Julius facing left, wearing elaborately etched plate armor with a ruffled collar, the date divided by the effigy on either side. The encircling Latin legend runs along the periphery, giving the ruler's titles as Prince-Bishop of Halberstadt and Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief Renaissance style typical of late sixteenth-century German thalers, with fine detailing on the armor's surface articulation. |

Henry Julius became administrator of the Halberstadt bishopric in 1566 and succeeded his father Julius as Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel in 1589 — the year this thaler series begins. He was among the more intellectually unusual rulers of his generation, maintaining a court theater that staged original German-language dramas, some attributed to his own authorship. His reign also coincided with a period of intensive silver exploitation in the Harz mining district, which directly funded the ambitious thaler output of the Wolfenbüttel mint under his name.
The Welter 634 attribution places this among the earliest issues of his duchy rule, distinct from his episcopal coinages struck under Halberstadt authority.
