附加信息

Burgmilchling was a tiny Imperial dominion in Franconia whose coinage-issuing rights were exercised almost entirely during the tenure of Henry Hermann Schutzbar, a knight of the Teutonic Order who exploited the legal ambiguities of Imperial minting privileges to produce thalers well above his station. The Schutzbar family held the lordship in this period through a complex web of feudal tenure rather than outright dynastic ownership, which makes the very existence of this issue a minor constitutional curiosity of the late Holy Roman Empire.

Davenport's attribution under ST#6659 places it firmly in the category of Standesherren coinage — lordly issues struck by minor nobility clinging to privileges increasingly contested by larger territorial princes.
