| Obverse description | Central view of the medieval Teutonic castle of Neuhausen (present-day Guryevsk), rendered in fine relief against a stippled field. A heraldic eagle shield appears in the upper right of the inner circle. The curved Cyrillic legend ИСТОРИЯ ВОСТОЧНОЙ ПРУССИИ (History of East Prussia) runs along the upper periphery, while the Latin inscription NEUHAUSEN 1262 is positioned vertically to the right of the castle. The founding year of the Soviet-era city, ГУРЬЕВСК 1946, appears in the lower exergue, flanked by two five-pointed stars, all within a beaded border. |
