1 Thaler - George III, Ludwig IV and Christian

Liegnitz-Brieg was among the last Silesian duchies to resist full absorption into Habsburg administrative control, and this thaler was struck at a moment of acute dynastic anxiety. The three co-rulers named on this issue — George III, Ludwig IV, and Christian — were brothers dividing an increasingly precarious inheritance. When Christian died without male heirs in 1672, Emperor Leopold I invoked imperial suzerainty and refused to recognize further Piast succession, extinguishing the line that had ruled Silesian territory since the thirteenth century.

Three-ruler joint issues of this type are inherently short-lived by nature of their political circumstance, which limits surviving populations.
