| Obverse description | Central device consisting of a large quartered royal arms shield bearing the heraldic quarters of England (three passant guardant lions), Scotland (rampant lion within double tressure), France (three fleurs-de-lis), Ireland (harp), and Hanover, surmounted by an arched and jewelled electoral crown. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the periphery, interrupted by the date above the shield. The coin's milled edge and fine relief work reflect the high-quality striking standards of the Hanoverian mint. |
