Obverse description Large half-length armored effigy of George Gustavus facing right, depicted in elaborate plate armor with a lace ruff collar visible above the breastplate, the figure breaking the inner circle at the top of the field. The portrait is rendered in fine detail characteristic of late 16th-century German taler engraving. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border, separated from the effigy by a beaded inner circle.

Reverse description Three small adjacent heraldic shields of arms arranged side by side in the center of the field, surmounted by an ornate crested helmet with elaborate mantling. The date appears at the end of the circumferential legend, which is rendered in German in the Gothic tradition of Protestant territorial coinage. A beaded border frames the entire design.
