Additional information

Jägerndorf (now Krnov in the Czech Republic) passed to the Hohenzollern branch under George Frederick I of Brandenburg-Ansbach in 1543, making him the duchy's first Hohenzollern ruler. This 1560 thaler was struck relatively early in his tenure, before his administrative focus shifted increasingly toward the neighboring Duchy of Opole and Ratibor, which he also governed from 1551. The Friedensburg reference places it within a tightly documented Silesian series, but the Davenport designation GT I#9323 A signals a die variant distinct from the more frequently encountered 9323 proper.
