Reverse description Quartered heraldic shield surmounted by an electoral bonnet, displaying the combined arms of the Rhenish electoral alliance: the arms of Cologne (a cross), Mainz (a wheel), Trier (a cross), the Palatinate (a lion with lozengy), Bavaria (lozenges), and Saxony (barry with a crancelin), arranged within a quartered escutcheon. The shield is framed by elaborate Renaissance mantling and set within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads MO NO RHEN ELECT PRINC CONSOCIAT, an abbreviation for 'Moneta Nova Rhenensium Electorum Principum Consociata' (New coin of the associated Rhenish Electoral Princes), reflecting the monetary union struck in support of Gebhard during the Cologne War.
