Obverse description Armored bust of Prince Gábor Bethlen facing right, wearing a ruffled collar and elaborately draped mantle with decorative clasp at the shoulder. The portrait is rendered in high relief in the German Baroque style, with the prince depicted with a full beard and mustache. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading GAB·D:G·SA:RO·IM·ET·TRAN:PRIN:, abbreviating his titles as Gabriel, by the Grace of God, of the Holy Roman Empire and Transylvania, Prince. The field is flat and unadorned, with a beaded inner border separating the effigy from the peripheral legend.
