The entire text is contained within an ornately engraved lozenge-shaped (rhombus) cartouche, the four corners of which are elaborately decorated with scrolling acanthus and foliate arabesques in high relief. The surrounding field between the cartouche and the coin's dentilled rim is filled with additional decorative flourishes, emphasizing the memorial character of this issue. |
