| 裏面の説明 | Complex heraldic achievement of the Baden-Durlach margravial arms displayed within an ornate floral and strapwork cartouche. The date is divided and distributed around the central shield, with the numerals integrated into the surrounding design. A continuous Latin legend encircles the entire composition along the coin's periphery, incorporating the titles of the issuing ruler. |

Frederick V ruled Baden-Durlach through some of the most punishing years of the Thirty Years' War. His father Georg Friedrich had led Protestant forces at the Battle of Wimpfen in 1622 and lost badly, forcing the family into exile and placing the margraviate under Bavarian occupation. By 1626–27, Frederick was effectively administering a territory that had been stripped, garrisoned, and economically gutted by Catholic League forces. That this thaler was struck at all under those conditions is itself notable.
