Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of Margrave Frederick V facing right, depicted wearing a cuirass and holding a baton or staff to his left. The bust is rendered in a robust early Baroque style typical of German territorial coinage of the early seventeenth century. A beaded or dotted inner circle borders the central field. The portrait is surrounded by a continuous Latin legend reading the ruler's titles and initials.

Reverse description A complex heraldic achievement displaying the multiple quartered arms of the Margraviate of Baden-Durlach, set within an ornate floral or acanthus-scroll cartouche.
