Obverse description Central field displays the ornate quartered arms of Brunswick-Lüneburg, surmounted by an elaborate crested helm with decorative mantling, all within a baroque cartouche flanked by scrollwork. The shield bears the traditional heraldic devices of the Brunswick and Lüneburg dynasties. A continuous circular legend in Latin surrounds the central armorial composition, reading from the upper left. The overall style is characteristic of early seventeenth-century German hammered coinage, with bold relief and deeply incised lettering.
