表面の説明	Bust of Duke Frederick I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg in right-facing profile, depicted in a flowing allonge wig with elaborate curls cascading over the shoulders, and armored drapery visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque portrait style characteristic of late 17th-century German coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait along the periphery, separated from the inner field by a beaded border. The legend reads: FRIDERIC D G DUX SAX I C & MONT, identifying the ruler by name and title.

Above the architectural view, radiant sunbeams burst dramatically from clouds in the upper field, symbolizing divine blessing upon the construction. Below the castle view, the exergue area bears the inscriptions FRIDRICHS WERTH and ANNO 1680, with the mint mark GFS at the very base. The circumferential Latin legend DEVS NOSTR AINCOEPTAS CVNDET encircles the entire design within a beaded border.
