1 Thaler - Frederick Eugen 300 Years of the Duchy

Struck to mark the tercentenary of Württemberg's elevation to a duchy in 1495 under Eberhard im Bart, this commemorative was issued just as the French Revolutionary Wars were pushing into southern German territory. Frederick Eugen would die the following year, and Württemberg itself would be reorganized under Napoleon within a decade — making this taler an inadvertent marker of the duchy's final years in its traditional constitutional form.
