| Obverse description | Central field displays a large crowned capital letter 'A' monogram for Augustus (Frederick August I), surmounted by a royal crown with elaborate floral and foliate decorative elements flanking either side. An olive or laurel branch extends to the left of the monogram, with a feathery palm frond to the right, all rendered in high relief. The date 1699 is split across the upper corners of the square klippe flan, with '16' to the left and '99' to the right. The denomination inscription '1 THAL' appears in the lower field beneath the monogram, with the mint letter 'C' below. The entire design is set within the characteristic diamond-shaped klippe format with milled edges. |
