| Obverse description | Square klippe flan struck in high relief displaying a large interlaced crowned royal cypher of Elector Frederick Augustus I at center, composed of intertwined letters beneath an electoral crown. Flanking the central cypher are two laurel and oak branches, with the date 1697 divided across the upper field. Small circular ornamental rosettes appear at the left and right extremities of the field, while the denomination indication '1.THAL.' is inscribed in the lower field beneath the cypher. The overall composition is characteristic of late 17th-century German baroque medallic art. |
