Franz Anton von Harrach was appointed Archbishop of Salzburg in 1709 and proved a significant patron of Baroque architecture, commissioning substantial work on the Salzburg Cathedral precinct during his tenure. His thalers were struck across several years with minor die variations — the Zöttl range spanning 2417 through 2422 captures at least three distinct sub-types, suggesting continuous but not uniform production at the Salzburg mint under mintmaster supervision that changed at least once during this period.
Harrach died in 1727, the same year this issue ceases — the final Zöttl varieties almost certainly represent posthumous or transitional striking as the see passed to Jakob Ernst von Liechtenstein.
