| Obverse description | Draped and armored bust of Count Francis Xavier of Montfort right, with flowing wig, the shoulders covered by a mantle over armor with visible gorget detail. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading FR·XAV·COM·DE·MONTFORT·T, with the abbreviated title identifying the ruler as Count of Montfort. Francis Xavier of Montfort held the county only briefly before the line's eventual absorption into Austrian Habsburg administration — Montfort-Peggau was among the smallest and most financially marginal of the southwestern German imperial counties, and thalers from this branch are scarce precisely because the fiscal capacity to strike them rarely existed. The 1759 issue likely reflects a ceremonial or feudal obligation rather than any genuine monetary need.
