Obverse description Central quartered coat of arms combining the episcopal insignia of Münster and Osnabrück, featuring crossed keys, a wheel cross, and barry fesses, all rendered within an ornate cartouche with scrollwork mantling. The shield is set within an inner beaded circle. The surrounding Latin legend, reading clockwise from the top, gives the abbreviated titles of Bishop Francis of Waldeck as administrator of Münster and Osnabrück, separated by small mullets and stars as dividers. The die-work is characteristic of the refined German hammered coinage of the early sixteenth century.
