背面描述 A putto (winged cherub) stands centrally upon a stepped pedestal, holding aloft a laurel wreath in his right hand while leaning against a large open book and a terrestrial globe, symbolizing learning and scholarship. The date 1794 is divided across the field to either side of the pedestal, with the mint mark letters 'M' and 'F' flanking the lower portion of the date. The value inscription 'X EINE FEINE MARCK' appears in the lower exergue, indicating the coin's fineness standard of one-tenth of a fine mark. The motto 'MERCES LABORUM' arcs across the upper field, and the whole design is enclosed within a beaded border.

附加信息

Francis Louis von Erthal ruled the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg from 1779 until his death in 1795, his final years dominated by the advancing chaos of Revolutionary France. This thaler was struck just as French forces were dismantling the ecclesiastical principalities of the left bank of the Rhine — Würzburg itself would fall under French pressure within a decade, secularized in 1803 under the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss. Coins struck under Erthal in 1794 are among the last issues of an independent Würzburg prince-bishopric with any genuine political footing.
