Reverse description A crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed at centre, each head facing outward and surmounted by a separate royal crown, with a larger imperial crown above uniting both heads. The eagle's breast bears an escutcheon displaying the combined arms of the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty and the Crown of Austria, quartered with the arms of the constituent kingdoms. The wings are spread and the talons clutch a sword and an orb. The surrounding legend, reading HVNG.BOH.LOMB.ET VEN.GAL.LOD.ILL.REX.A.A., enumerates the emperor's royal titles, with the date 1852 incorporated into the legend at the top of the coin. A toothed border frames the entire design.
