正面描述 Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Francis Joseph I facing left, his hair rendered in fine detail with a laurel wreath tied at the nape by a ribbon. The portrait is youthful in character, consistent with the early years of his reign. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the mint mark 'A' (Vienna) positioned below the bust truncation. The circumferential legend reads FRANC IOS I D G AVSTRIAE IMPERATOR, distributed around the full perimeter of the coin.

附加信息

The 1852 thaler was struck in the immediate aftermath of the Olmütz abdication, when the eighteen-year-old Francis Joseph had been emperor for less than four years. His government was still consolidating authority following the suppression of the 1848–49 revolutions, with Schwarzenberg's ministry running much of the actual administration. Austrian thalers of this period circulated widely across the German states, where the Münchner Münzvertrag of 1837 had standardized the thaler's weight and fineness across multiple confederate members.

The .833 fineness is notably lower than the later Vereinsthaler standard of .900, adopted in 1857.
