| Reverse description | The reverse depicts the enthroned Madonna and Child in high relief, seated upon clouds in a radiant glory of sunbeams emanating from behind her figure. The Virgin Mary, crowned and nimbed with a halo, holds a sceptre in her right hand while the Christ Child sits on her left knee bearing an orb, his right hand raised in blessing. Both figures are rendered in a dignified baroque manner. The peripheral Latin legend S · MARIA MATER DEI · PATRONA · HUNG · 1792 · encircles the composition, and the Vienna mint mark 'A' appears in an ornamental cartouche at the base of the design. |
