The Counts of Sprinzenstein held imperial immediacy within the Holy Roman Empire but never operated a sustained mint — this trial strike is almost certainly connected to a petition for minting rights rather than any established production sequence. Klippe flans, with their characteristic square or polygonal form, were routinely used for presentation pieces and Probemünzen submitted to imperial authorities as evidence of technical competence. The fact that it survives as Pn1 in the KM sequence suggests no regular issue followed.
