Beschrijving voorzijde Draped bust of Bishop Francis Arnold of Metternich facing right, wearing an elaborate heavily embroidered episcopal cope adorned with intricate acanthus scrollwork and a prominent pectoral cross, with a clerical collar visible at the neck. The subject wears a voluminous full-bottomed allonge wig with tightly curled locks cascading to the shoulders, rendered in fine baroque engraving style. Beschrijving keerzijde Central oval baroque cartouche bearing an eight-fold quartered coat of arms with an inescutcheon of the Wolff-Metternich family arms, the entire shield set within an ornate baroque frame of foliate scrollwork. The armorial achievement is superimposed upon a crossed episcopal crozier and sword, symbols of spiritual and temporal authority. The mintmaster's initials J and W appear divided at lower left and right of the shield. A decorative ribbon or band below carries the motto PRO LEGE ET GREGE, and the date 1712 appears at the conclusion of the reverse legend, which records the bishop's titles as Burggrave of Stromberg, Prince of the Holy Roman Empire, Count of Pyrmont, and Lord of Bork and Werl.
